As a part of my study I had a visit to one of our largest power plants, Advedøreværket. Its located just outside Copenhagen….

The plant consists of two blocks – Avedøre 1 and Avedøre 2 – and has a total production capacity of 825 MW. Avedøre 1 from 1990 primarily uses coal, but can also use oil as fuel. The simultaneous production of electricity and heat means that 91 percent of the energy in the fuel Avedøre 1 is utilized, which places Avedøre 1 among the most efficient coal-fired power plants ever built.
Avedøre 2 from 2001 is a multi-fuel plants and can now use natural gas, oil, wood pellets and straw. Pellets and straw is CO2 neutral fuels and biomass plant in Avedøre 2 is the largest of its kind in the world…
